Hey there, welcome to the Modern Etsy Seller Podcast and What You're Wondering. This segment where I answer one specific Etsy question in under five minutes. I'm Melissa, a busy working mom with two profitable Etsy shops, and I'm here to help you build yours. Let's get to it. Okay, so today's question is what's the difference between views and visits? Okay, so this will actually be a quick what you're wondering episode because there's not a lot to cover here. But if you look at your Etsy store dashboard, you're gonna see your shop stats. And you're gonna see four different things. You'll see views, orders, visits, and revenue. And while orders and revenue are easier to understand, views and visits aren't as clear cut. And honestly, like when I first started, those felt like the same exact thing to me. It turns out they're not. They count two different things. The visits count people, and views count pages, listing pages. So if a shopper searches on Etsy and your listing comes up and they click it, that is one visit and one view. One person visited and one listing was viewed. Now say that person likes what they see, so they click into your shop and look into another listing. Now you're going to have still one visit, but two views. If they keep going and look at three more listings, you still have that one visit, but now you're up to five views because they looked at five listing pages. The visit stays at one because it's the same person. The views keep climbing because each listing page they open adds another one. Think about a brick and mortar store. The visits tell you how many people walk through the door. The views tell you how many things they picked up and looked at. Alright, so I hope that clears it up a little bit. A couple more things though I want to mention. According to Etsy, listing page views update in real time. But the visits refresh a few times throughout the day and can actually go down over time because throughout the day, Etsy filters out automated traffic that isn't real shoppers. And I wanted to point this out just because I know in the first months of a shop, we obsessively check our numbers. So if your visit count looks lower at night than it did earlier in the day, that's most likely why. And if you are looking at your shop on a desktop, you can actually see the last time it was updated. If you go into that stats tab that's on the left hand side, then look at the top next to the date range, it'll say something like three hours ago or five hours ago. So it's going to be right there. It's going to let you know when that updated. Like I said, this was a super quick one, but I hope if visits and views confused you, then this helped clear it up a bit.
